How to play a blues scale

I’m going to show you an E blues scale. It is an E minor pentatonic scale, but we’re adding in one more note, it’s adding in a flatted fifth. We’re going to start out with a sixth string open, then we’re going to the third fret of that sixth string. Fret one, fret two, fret three, third fret, third finger. Then to the open fifth string, then we’re going to go to fret one, with your first finger, and that’s a blues note. Then to the second fret of the fifth string, open fourth, second fret of that fourth string. Then we go to open third string, and then to the second fret of that third string. And then here’s another blues note, the flatted fifth, on the third fret, of the third string. Then we go to the open second, second string. Third fret of the second string, and then to the open first string, and that is the blues scale. We’re going to bring it back the other way, we’re playing the first string open, and then to the third fret of the second string, and then open second, and we’re going to go to third string, third fret, third finger, playing that blues note. And then to the second fret of that third string, second finger, and the open. Second fret of the fourth string, second finger, then open. And now to the fifth string, second fret, second finger. Now to the blues note, first fret of the fifth string, first finger. And then to the open fifth string, and then to the sixth string, third fret, third fret and then open six. And that is an E blues scale.
