Playing Guitar Songs: Chord Progressions

Guitar songs have chord progression. I’m going to show you three basic chord progressions. The first one I’m going to show you is the E to the A chord. We’re going to take the E chord and strum that twice, and you’re going to strum all six strings on that. Once, twice. Then, you’re going to go to the A chord, you’re going to strum that twice, and only strumming five strings: one through five, strumming that twice. So, we’re going to go back to the E chord, with a downward strum, twice: one, two, to an A chord, one, two. And practice that back and forth. We’re going to do an A to a D. Taking the A chord, strumming only five strings, one through five, strumming it twice with a downward stroke, one, two. Then, we’re going to go to the D chord, strumming only four strings, one through four, one, two. Practice that back and forth, one, two on the A chord, one, two on the D chord. Back and forth. We’re going to do G to C. We’re going to take the G chord, and strum six strings, twice: one, two. Then, we’re going to go to the C chord, only strumming five strings, one through five, with a downward stroke, once, twice. And then, back to the G: one, two. And then to the C: one, two, back and forth.
