Hello. My name is Glenn Sutton. www.SanDiegoGuitarLessonsStudio.com. http://www.PowayMusicLessons.com. The G and the C chord are two chords that take some practice to accomplish. I’m going to show you an easy G chord, and an easy C chord. It works well with young children. We’re going to go to the first string, which is the one furthest away from you, the thin one, and we’re going to take the third finger, finger one, two, three, and place it on the third fret. This is fret number one, fret number two, fret number three, and place that third finger, one, two, three, right behind the third fret, and curve that finger around. We’re now going to strum three strings. And we’re going to hold the pick between the index finger and the thumb. The pick will go in the direction of the index finger, and you’re going to strum right over the sound hole. You’re going to strum strings one, two, and three with a downward stroke:three strings. And that is a G chord; an easy G chord. The easy C: you’re going to take the first finger and place it on the second string. So, here’s the first string, the one furthest away from you, then the second string. You’re going to go to the first fret, place that first finger right behind that first fret, second string. You’re also going to strum three strings: one, two, and three. You’re going to strum right over the sound hole, three strings. And that is an easy C! What you’re going to do is practice going from that G to C. You’re going to take,(which is called the chord progression), we’re going to take the G and strum it twice, three strings; strumming only three strings, and then we’re going to go to the C chord strumming only three strings, and strumming twice. And you’re going to go back and forth from the G to the C. So, G: one, two. C: one, two. Back again. To G. To C. And you will practice that over and over. Thank you.
