Four forms of bar chords

Bar chords are movable up and down the neck. You can play them anywhere from the first fret, all the way up to the twelve fret. I’m going to show you the bar chords on the fifth fret today. We’re going to take the first finger and lay it flat right on the back side here of the finger, you’re going to set it straight very firmly. Then, you’re going to take the second finger and place it on the third string, one, two, three and place it on the sixth fret, right behind the sixth fret. You’re going to curve that finger around. Then, you’re going to take the third finger and place it on the fifth string, so this is string six and string five, and place it right behind the seventh fret, third finger, seventh fret, fifth string, curving it around. Then you’re going to take the fourth finger, and place it on the fourth string, so here’s string six, string five, string four, and placing it right behind the seventh fret also, hooking the fingers around, pushing down firmly, and that’s an E form bar chord, strumming all six strings, and it’s movable. The E minor form is just taking off that second finger, and you will strum all six strings, the minor form, the E minor form, a darker sounding chord, and that’s movable. The A minor form is taking, we’re going to set the bar down on the fifth fret, we’re going to take the second finger, and place that on the second string, behind the sixth fret. So, here’s first string, second string, and here is fret six. So second finger, sixth fret, second string. Then we’re going to take the third finger, and place that on the fourth string, seventh fret. And then, we’re going to take the fourth finger, and place it on the seventh fret of the third string, and you’re only going to strum five strings. One through five, and it’s movable. The A form bar chord is going to use the third finger, we’re going to set the bar down again, on the fifth fret, and we’re going to take the third finger and lay it flat on the seventh fret of the second and third and fourth string. Seventh fret, second and third and fourth string, and you will strum only five strings, and it’s movable. And that’s the A form bar chord.
